Alli Center has partnered with local school districts to bring licensed mental health therapy directly to students while they are at school. Your student meets with their therapist by secure video from a private room at their school, during the normal school day. For families, this means no missed afternoons of work, no waitlists across town, and no transportation hurdles.
As a locally owned Iowa behavioral health practice established in 2018, our therapists work with children and teens every day. We help K-12 students navigate anxiety, depression, stress, grief, family changes, friendship struggles, and school-related challenges.
Get connected: Your school counselor may send home a flyer, or you can reach out to us directly. There’s no wrong door!
Sign up online: Complete our online sign-up and consent forms at your convenience. (Paper forms are also available if you prefer—just ask!)
We match your student with a therapist: We’ll consider your student’s age, needs, and schedule. We coordinate session times with the school so therapy fits seamlessly into the day with minimal disruption.
Therapy begins: Your student meets regularly with the same therapist for one-on-one, confidential sessions by secure, HIPAA-compliant video.
You stay involved: You can contact your student’s therapist with questions at any time. For younger children especially, your therapist will keep you in the loop and may even invite you to participate in portions of care.
Is telehealth right for kids? Yes. Research consistently shows that teletherapy is as effective as in-person therapy for most common childhood and adolescent concerns. Many kids—especially tweens and teens—actually find it easier to open up on a screen. If we ever feel your student needs in-person care, we will tell you and help you find it.
What about privacy? Nothing happens without you. A parent or guardian must provide written consent before services begin. Therapy is confidential, and your student’s records are protected health information under HIPAA. They are part of your student's medical record with Alli Center, not their school record.
Will the school know what we talk about? We do not share clinical details with school staff without your written permission. However, many families choose to authorize limited communication with a school counselor so the care team can support the student together.
How does billing and insurance work? We bill insurance directly. We accept Iowa Medicaid, Hawki, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and most other major plans. We will verify your student's benefits before the first session so you know exactly what to expect regarding costs. For students without insurance or for whom the cost is prohibitive, we have free sessions available with our clinician interns.
We know school staff are on the front lines of student mental health. Our program is designed to integrate smoothly into your building, providing students with the care they need while minimizing the administrative burden on your team.
Consistent Care: Students have a recurring appointment with the same independently licensed therapist or supervised provisionally licensed therapist. They receive the same high-quality, evidence-based care they would get in our offices.
Seamless Logistics: Sessions take place in a private, quiet room provided by the school. School staff simply help the student get to and from their session, but do not sit in the room.
Collaborative Support: While strict HIPAA privacy is maintained and records remain separate from the school, families can authorize communication with school counselors so we can work together to support the student's success.
We are happy to talk through anything before you sign up or refer a student.
